Beating Cancer

The most recent data tells us that around 14.5 million people of all ages are living with a history of cancer, and in 10 years, the number is expected to grow by a third.
That means millions of people, more every day, are undergoing or have undergone some kind of treatment for cancer. They all put their lives on hold and made major sacrifices, and many spent tons of money and suffered traumatic side effects so that they could be named with the survivors. We hope to see more survivors with a story of beating cancer naturally, empowered by their experience, taking responsibility for their health into their own hands, and becoming stronger for it.
We will be looking at 3 major datasets to understand how the world is gearing up to fight cancer:

Cancer centers and organizations around the world.
The survival rate of cancer depending upon when it has been detected.
A global comparison of the mortality versus incidence rate over the years.

Cancer Centers & Organisations

Circles that shows the cancer treatment centers and organizations around the world dedicated to treating cancer. As we can see, the United States has the highest number out of the 20 countries shown.

Cancer by Stages

A chart that shows us the relative survival rate according to the time when cancer has been detected, as well as a whole. There are 3 stages of cancer:

Localized: Cancer is limited to the place where it started, with no sign that it has spread.
Regional: Cancer has spread to nearby lymph nodes, tissues, or organs
Distant: Cancer has spread to distant parts of the body

Global Mortality v/s Incidence Rate

Map showing the mortality rate and accordingly a bar chart showing the corresponding incidence rate. The units are the deaths per 100,000 people or the incidence cases reported per 100,0000. Choose the year to see data for that particular time.

Use slider to vary years between 2000-2016 and view the corresponding year Mortality and Incidence cases data across countries in the below maps. Hover over legend to see data for a particular range of cases and hover on both the maps to view the Country Name and the corresponding value.
